The SHIFT Interview Series EP 2: "Creativity as Your Superpower in Chaotic Times"
When the world feels chaotic, overwhelming, or out of your control, creativity becomes more than just art. It becomes a way of being. In this empowering conversation, I sit down with the wildly wise and creative Helen Bradley — Artist, Transformational Creativity Coach, and founder of Playful Art Studio in LA — where she helps adults reconnect with their voice, truth, and power through expressive art, play, and creative exploration. We dive into how creativity is: 🌊 A powerful way to move through intense emotions 🧭 A compass that reconnects you to your authentic truth 🛠 A life-giving tool for resilience and flexibility in uncertain times 🎭 A radical act of self-expression when the world wants you silent, small, and stuck When the current political strategy is to overwhelm, paralyze, and disempower — adding play, fun, and creativity to your life isn't fluff. It's a power move. It's resistance. It's healing. Whether you feel blocked, burdened, or bursting with feelings and don’t know where to put them, this is your invitation to stop waiting for the chaos to calm — and start creating your way through it. 👉 Watch now and reconnect with the creator inside you. Your voice matters. Your expression is needed. youtu.be/4_T_K6AX9Zg?si=R57GO0VlVtlRIZBa

How can we explore the healing power of creativity? Is it true that we are all creative in our unique, different ways? In this episode of The Frequency of Creativity, host Melinda Harr Curley is joined by guest Helen Bradley. Helen is a transformational creativity coach, an artist, and the owner of an art studio. She believes that creativity is not about genes. Instead, it is instilled within us, and we must delve deeper into different areas of our life to find it. Meet Helen Bradley: Professional Artist, Creativity Life Coach and Expressive Art Facilitator
One of my students, Lori Cash Richards, shared about her experience taking my workshop "The Artist's Way with an Expressive Art Flair" in her new book "Letting the Upside In." She shares:
"I participated in a workshop recently based on the book “The Artist’s Way”. It was written by another one of my heroes, Julia Cameron. I have not done any art in many years aside from my collages. Yet when Helen Bradley, my inspiring instructor, put materials in front of me, I created something. I set aside any fear that came up and focused instead on what she placed before me. My curiosity about what might get created carried me right on through to the other side.
Helen taught me how to create what wanted to come into form by asking questions of my art like, “What do you need from me?” “How can I serve You?” Then once what ever wanted to be created came into form, Helen taught me to ask it, “Who are You?” and “What message do you have to share with me?” The possibility had never occurred to me before—to ask my art what it needed from me, how I could serve it. I wonder if that’s what the universe does."
